Talking to REMI

Your private chat with REMI is where you give instructions, answer approvals and ask questions. Write the way you would text an assistant. The only codes to know are the short ones printed on each approval.

Your private chat

The Primary Operator has a one-to-one chat with REMI's number, on WhatsApp or SMS depending on your account. REMI always answers you there, as long as the question is about your properties and operations. It politely passes on anything else, like the weather or general knowledge.

Some changes only work in this chat: adding or editing people, vendors, properties and reservations, pausing or deferring a job, cancelling or retrying a turnover task, detailed lookups such as past bookings, and settings. If you ask for one of these in a group, REMI asks you to send it privately.

REMI doesn't answer private messages to its number from anyone except the Primary Operator. Your team talks to REMI in your group chats.

What you can ask

Look things up

Open jobs, check-ins, who is staying, who cleaned last time, which plumbers you have. REMI answers from your saved data and never guesses.

Log and manage jobs

Report a problem, assign it, change its priority, set the visit date, pause follow-ups or close it.

Run turnovers

Set each property's cleaners and backups, give a cleaning to someone, change a checkout time, note who is away.

Set reminders

One-time reminders for you, or for someone in a group.

Set things up

Add a vendor, a team member, a property or a stay for a property without a PMS. Turn REMI off.

Teach REMI

Standing rules, facts about a property, and corrections. REMI acts on them once the REMI team turns this on for your account.

Answering approvals

Approvals start with [Approval Needed] and end with the exact replies they accept. Plain answers like "go with them", "send it" or "not now" work too.

  • A bare yes or no works only in your private chat, and only when one thing is waiting. Otherwise REMI lists what is waiting and asks which.
  • In a group, always include the number.
  • Use the English words YES, NO, EDIT and OTHER, even if the rest of your message is in another language.
  • Vendor approvals can also be answered on the work item, and email drafts in the Inbox. Guest replies are answered in chat only. Whichever answer comes first counts. See vendors and approvals.

What REMI checks with you first

  • Vendors. REMI never contacts one until you approve the vendor and the first message.
  • Guests. Every reply to a guest through your PMS is a draft you approve.
  • Money. REMI never agrees to a price, refund, discount or fee waiver. Quotes come to you.
  • Your PMS. REMI doesn't change bookings, prices or calendars there. A checkout time you give REMI is saved in REMI only.
  • Purchases and calls. REMI doesn't order supplies, pay anyone or phone people. It logs what's needed instead.

Guest messages

The REMI team turns on guest replies per account. Until then REMI stores guest messages from your PMS but doesn't draft replies. Once they're on, REMI reads guest messages for short-term stays from Hospitable or Hostaway. When a guest needs an answer, REMI drafts one and sends it to you. Nothing reaches the guest until you approve it, and REMI then sends it through your PMS.

  • REMI reminds you about a waiting draft. A draft you don't answer expires after 4 hours, and nothing is sent.
  • A message that sounds like an emergency, such as a lockout or no heat, always reaches you straight away.
  • A late checkout request shows the time asked for and how it affects the next turnover.
  • You can ask REMI to write to a current guest. It drafts the message for your approval.
